Itouch 4g Best Buy Insurance Coverage Questions!?

Isamar

Ookay, I got the 2yr $79.99 coverage on my 4gen 32gb itouch and would like more specific answers as to what that would cover and if I would to use the insurance would they replace my broken itouch with a new one? Same Gen/new Gen? Or same amount of $ equivalency I paid for the itouch to a replaced/new one (say I paid $274.99 in 2011 but it's 2012/2013, $274.99 or around there, would be the price of a 64gb)

Answer
Insurance for electronic gadgets is very overpriced and most isn't even worth the paper that it is printed on. You will discover that if you ever have to file a claim.

Gadget Insurance for a Year Abroad?

Lizzie

Soon going to be spending one year+ in France and need to find some sort of gadget insurance for my Mac, iPhone and camera etc.. but that also would cover me at home for a few months before/after going.
Really struggling to find a solution. It seems gadget insurance won't cover me abroad for more than a few months at a time. But travel insurance doesn't give me the same cover, often the contents insurance within it is very minimal and doesn't cover loss, accidental spillage etc..
Any suggestions would be great?

Answer
I'd suggest that you go with cheaper gadgets that you can afford to replace if you lose them, because the cost of "worldwide" gadget insurance is probably going to be prohibitive.

iPhone Insurance?

domox

I am looking for a reliable insurance provider for my iPhone and probably a few other gadgets. (Camera, iPod, etc.)

Does anyone have any ideas about small gadget insurance providers?

Answer
Your best bet for coverage for your gadgets is to speak with your Homeowners/Renters insurance carrier and have them add a "Scheduled Property Endorsement" which will allow you to specifically list pieces of property (i.e. I-phone, Digital camera, etc) including a description of the item and a value. Otherwise, some policies automatically have coverages you can add for things like electronics, golf clubs, etc.

Hope that helps!

Is my digital camera covered under rental insurance?

sumit

It seems i lost my camera . Not sure if my rental insurance covers that. They use such complicated legal language in the policy that you won't get a clear idea about the coverage. Anyways, are gadgets like these normaly covered under renters insurance?

Answer
Usually the only way most of us can afford insurance is to have large deductibles. I would guess that your camera is probably not expensive enough to be more than your deductible.

Renters insurance covers you for large losses 9someone breaks in and steals all your stuff or burns the place down. Also if you leave the iron on and it burns the place down- your renters insurance covers your liability-(even if the landlord has insurance- their insurance company would turn around and sue you for leaving the iron on)

Why do people complain about the cost of healthcare and insurance?

NOOOOOOOOO

and yet they still buy plasma TVs, have cable and cell phones and every other gadget imaginable? Many people in our area say they can't afford healthcare- but they find money for these things. Why should I subsidize someone's health care so they can afford cable?

Answer
My income is less than $1000 per month. I don't have cable or satellite TV. I cannot afford it. I have a small 17" television that I bought at a garage sale. I get three broadcast channels. Of course, that's going to stop working when they switch everything over to digital. I use the internet at the library. I cannot afford to pay for my own. I don't have a cell phone. I have a computer that's six years old. My car is a broken down pick-up with almost 200,000 miles on it. I live in the desert and cannot afford to run my air conditioner. (We topped out at 116 degrees this summer.) I spend less than $200 per month on food.

Health insurance? It is totally out of reach for me and millions of Americans like me. If I get seriously ill, I guess I'll just have to die because I cannot afford medical care.

Do you have any notion how much of your money is susidizing corporate profits with this war? How much of your money is spent subsidizing corporations that send our jobs to Asia? I can see how you wouldn't want to also subsidize health care for needy Americans. I'm sure subsidizing those corporate profits makes you a much better person.

Hasn't Capitalism sometimes created more problems than solutions in fair business practices??

I mean take technology for example. The first company to develop a new gadget determines the price of that gadget based on what? What they think people will pay for it? Eventually there is competition to lower the original price but sometimes even then it's still ridiculously expensive.

When was the last time a CEO took a pay cut during down time? Versus the people laboring who either get cut or get a dime raise at the beginning of the calendar year?

It's out of balance IMO.

Answer
I honestly could care less what the CEO makes. Thats between him and the board of directors...it's their company. What I do have issue with is large corporate entities that assimilate all of the competition to a point where they are in monopoly or near monopoly existence. I think it benefits no one that there are only five major players in health insurance. They are selling a product that, quite frankly, is as much a necessity these days as electricity or gasoline. Can the consumer effectively stop using their product and survive in today's society? What is to stop them from working together to gouge the consumer? When there are only a few really big fish in the pond, the likelyhood for corruption and abuse of the consumer increases dramatically.
Like it or not, some sort of counterbalance is needed. In the case of utilities, most states have a public utilities board that caps the rates an energy company can charge it's consumers. Can you imagine what would happen if that stop wasn't there? They could charge you and your neighbor whatever they want for electricity and you would have to pay it because of lack of competition.

How can I create a realistic budget to include a baby?

Lisa O

I am not (yet) pregnant but my husband and I would like to start a family. We live in SC which has a low cost of living. Together we take home about $3200 a month. I would like to make a budget to see how we could afford a child but could definitely use some advise! My biggest concern is that my husband does not have insurance and my policy does not include dependents. Thanks for any advise!
My point is that I would need to buy insurance - either from my employer (at no discount) or from a private source. And since we have more to worry about than ourselves, I would really want to get insurance for my husband which is super expensive! We don't need a lot of "things," but we do need to be able to pay our bills! Thanks for your responses!

Answer
Wow, the #1 thing you'll have to figure out how to do is contain costs. That's gonna be really hard. There are just so many things that you are expected to do "or else you're not a good parent"... and wouldn't you know, almost all of them involve BUYING PRODUCTS! It's so insidious... like parenting = consumerism and love = spending. Doesn't sound right to me.

You are absolutely right to plan out everything ahead carefully. Make sure all the money is there in advance. I would also talk to others, because I think you are going to find situations where other people force you to spend on these products and gadgets. For instance I hear the hospital has a "car seat inspection" where they want to positively confirm you have a brand-new car seat you bought at retail before they'll even let you take your child home.

They'll also lay a major head trip on you unless you have the latest model cars, because they have the latest tiedowns.

It's a miracle any of us are alive -- our parents and grandparents didn't have all these products!

The irony is, there are large numbers of Americans who do. They have a simple secret: they are America's poor. They don't have the money for all the junk, so they don't buy it, and their kids grow up just the same.

And doesn't it mean when you get your wisdom teeth that you are wiser? I'm 33 and I don't feel much wiser.=) Also I'm scared of the pain, all my wisdoms have punched fully through with no problems exept its hard to reach back there and brush so I'm getting them yanked. I don't have insurance so its either a payment plan or sell something. Do you know how much it will cost? Thanx and have a good eve!

Answer
if im being honest with you.. 3rd molar extractions or odontectomy is somehow a tough procedure coz its basically taking out a tooth at the very backside of your mouth, odontectomy or wisdom tooth extraction can be done by a general dentist or an oral surgeon whos also a dentist that specializes in oral surgery like tooth extractions and dentofacial constructive sugergy and dental implants. but the thing is since their SPECIALIST its quite pricy for them compared to general dentist that does extraction, then again if you seen your dentist and look at your xray they would say if they can do it or not. dont blame or get upset with the dentist if they say they cant do it and they have to refer you out to the specialist coz the reason why they do that is specialist has more gadgets/instruments that they use to do that procedure since they only specialize that field. one more to thing to consider if your having all your wisdom teeth pulled out is basically , you have an option to be sedated thru IV sedation or a general anesthesia which they put you to sleep so it will be more comfortable for you to tolerate the procedure. i cant really tell you how much exactly would cost but im telling you now its quite pricy even if you go to a general dentist alone(if they do 3rd molar extractions there). one more thing wisdom tooth has really nothing to do with your brain they only say it coz since it already erupted it means you already considered as a full adult. hope this piece of info helped you a lil. i wish you good luck and take care
