What are the basics of an HTML code for creating a desktop gadget or for iGoogle?

I want to learn HTML coding before summer ends and I only know the <p>, <b>, and <i> tags. I wanted to create a gadget for iGoogle or something and only know the basics, no formatting or anything.

do they make a gadget for igoogle that will allow you to add task that are in the task section of gmail. like instead of having to go into gmail then click on task and adding a chore etc. Is there a gadget or addon or whatever it is called that will allow you to do it straight from the igoogle homepage.

When you go on your igoogle, you can press the link "add stuff'' and then you can search gmail or something. Hopefully you can find it!
