Is hunt-gadgets.com a legit site?

Connor

It has an ipad mini for £155 which seems too cheap, but it comes up on google shopping which makes it seem legit, what do you think?

Answer
There are scam busting sites with online lists of the names scammers use, their email addresses, stock copy/paste emails, paid-for-in-cash cell phone numbers, stolen pictures and fake websites they use. You could start your search at one of those sites.

If you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even partial sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

What is a good name for a game and gadget review site?

Liam Mason

I'm thinking of making my own review site and i am struggling to come up with ideas for a name, the best one i can think of is shortcutreviews.com but thats about it.

Answer
If you want for people to be able to tell what's your site about by it's name then it's not strange you can't think of a cool name because you've really limited your imagination. Cool sites rarely have names that describe the site's content.
and after going all wise karate master on you here's a few ideas:
awesome games institute (u can also use www.agi.com if it's not taken)
guido reviews
mad postman
your moto could be: We review all games so you wouldn't have to play the shitty ones.
You could add a forum section named Taking one for the team where would you allow registered member to post their reviews of shitty games. it could also be called sh** central

ice_godess

I live in the Philippines and i can't seem to find any site that offers any free gadgets in this country. i always wanted to have an iPhone 3gS but it'll take me forever to save money for it. or at least help me find a site that offers paid surveys online (that pays through pay pal).

please help me? :)
thanks :D

Answer
I am 24 and work full time but I found a site last year a friend recommended for making extra spending money online and for getting cool products. It was free to sign up and has paid me every 2 weeks to my paypal.Pays in good dollar amounts, Not pennies.Even pays you when you sign up. I get to pick and choose when and what surveys and things I want to do, and it is super easy. It doesn't spam you like some other lame sites I tried before. I suggest it to anyone I can. I posted the link below.

Where can you find public domain product images?

pjmc1983

I am looking for public domain images of products to use for a tech gadget review site. Where should I look?

Answer
Don't know of any public domains, but here is a suggestion. I am forever needing pictures to insert into my college papers online. So I opened a photbucket account @ http://photobucket.com/ and search for pictures I need straight from yahoo. So in their search window type "Item you looking for" and "picture" like IPHONE PICTURE. then you click on "more pictures", you can look though all the photos, find one you like, copy the URL go to your photobucket account and add it to you collection, or for photos you can't URL link, save the picture to your computer then upload it to your photobucket account.

Once in photobucket you can copy and paste it, or use the Email & IM link, Direct Link, HTML Tag or IMG Code. And since it is your account you can manage them yourself. No dead links.

Here is an example of one of my pics:
Email & IM link: http://s223.photobucket.com/albums/dd292/scubabatdan/?action=view¤t=partitions2.jpg
Direct Link: http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd292/scubabatdan/partitions2.jpg

IMG CODE: IMG]http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd292/scubabatdan/partitions2.jpg[/IMG]

Well Hope this helps

How can I add a weather gadget to my site that shows the visitors weather?

Scoops

I want to add a weather feature that's pretty much just like go.com or yahoo's where the user can enter their zip code and their local weather pops up.

Are there any gadgets/widgets that do this or is there extensive coding for something like that?

Answer
You could make one with PHP that parses an XML weather script. I did it once, I don't think I have the code lying around anymore :(.

This looks like a decent feed:

http://www.tickertech.com/products/xml/weather1.xml

It shows:

Temperature
Wind chill
Wind speed & direction
Relative humidity
Barometric Pressure
Visibility

All you have to do is make the PHP "explode" the content and then just echo it into a sentence.

EDIT:

And it also works by ZIP code, so don't forget to create the submission box for it.

Are there any visitor map gadgets for sites which don't revert back to the original gadget site when clicked?

Irish 313

The ones that show a globe spinning with visitor locations or a static map with visitor locations etc. We'd rather folks remained at out site rather than being "taken" away to another site when they clicked on the visitor location map. Thanks.
Not for blogs by the way, for actual websites. Thanks.
The site isn't overly serious so if it looks amateurish that's ok. It is mainly for visitors to see where other visitors come from rather than for data collection or other purposes which we may have oursleves.

Answer
Visit Counters are not useful in websites. It just shows users that you're a novice at web design.

Use something such as Google Analytics (http://www.google.com/analytics), which shows locations of users, time spent on site, where on the site, and of course, how many people have visited your website.
