Gadget to show fan speed in Windows 7?

Jordan

I would like a sidebar gadget to show the fan speeds of my computer. I have Core Temp right now as well as GPU Observer. I like them both, however they do not show fan speed. I'd prefer either an all in one (GPU, CPU temp, RAM usage, and fan speed) or just fan speed and nothing else, but I'll take any suggestions. I have two computers I'd like to put it on, one a Dell Latitude D630 32 bit and a MacBook Pro Retina 64 bit, both Windows 7 Professional.

Answer
OpenHardwareMonitor.

Not a gadget, but it shows everything.

If you want temps and stuff, you can drag them into your tray beside the time. Much better than gadgets.

Windows 7 gadget problem!?

Sam

My computer did an auto update and removed all of my gadgets on my screen. So I thought I would just add them back. I tried and it does nothing when clicking on the "gadgets" tab after right clicking on the desktop. Is there any way I can fix this or revert to the older version of windows? Thanks in advanced!

Answer
Microsoft removed gadgets from its site a couple of years ago. There is a possibility that they can be hacked. Once this became widely known, they were removed.

I have an XP computer that still has a gadget and updates have not affected it. I would look for another reason that they vanished.

You can try a system restore to a date when they were still there.

Can someone help me with my windows 7 gadgets?

KinToChuck

I have a Windows 7 hp laptop. I have some gadgets on the right side of my screen such as the calendar, CPU usage meter, reversi, etc. But since a few months ago, almost every time I turn on my computer, the gadgets move to the left about 2 inches. I move them back to the right side again but the next time I turn on my computer, the move to the left again. Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it?

Answer
Hi Landon,

By default, gadgets "stick" to each other and to the edge of the screen, however you should be able to move them wherever you want them by simply dragging them to a different location on your desktop. You can read more about customizing your desktop gadgets here, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Customize-desktop-gadgets

For Windows 7, What's difference between Desktop Gadgets and SideShow Gadgets?

Jon F

I've added some gadgets like Pandora and Weather, but I'm not sure if they are Desktop Gadgets or SideShow Gadgets. I was looking at adding some other "gadgets", but I'm not sure the difference between the 2. Any insight? Thanks!

Answer
Windows Desktop Gadgets are a sort of mini-applications which are based on CSS, Script and HTML. These Gadgets are used to display information like CPU, RAM usage, system properties, RSS feeds or to launch and control applications. You can also use gadgets to display a picture slide show or view continuously updated headlines.

A Windows SideShow Gadget is one written by programming against the Windows SideShow Platform API.

How do you get the hp printing gadget for windows 7 back?

prissessva

I clicked the X on the hp printing gadget on my computer that has windows 7. Will it come back on it's own or do I have to get it back? And if I do, how?

Answer
I can't speak to this particular situation, but if you're unable to get it back, you can always go to HP's Web site and download the latest driver for your particular printer. The process of re-installing that driver should set everything back to the way it was, and you'll be assured of having the latest, most up-to-date software for your printer.

How do I get the Windows 7 Gadget bar to dock on one side of the screen?

Broccccc

In Windows Vista, I was able to dock the sidebar to one side, not having it overlap the windows but have the window adjust to the one side of the sidebar in full screen. The sidebar was fully displayed yet it wasn't overlapping any windows, and the windows were in full screen. How do I do that with the Windows 7 Gadget bar? I'd like my notes to be displayed to the right of the window conveniently.

Answer
Hi Broccccc,

I think you are talking about the taskbar. This displays at the bottom of the screen, but you can move it to display on the side of your screen. To do so click an empty space on the taskbar, and then hold down the mouse button and drag the taskbar to whichever side of the screen you wish it to display it on. When the taskbar is where you want it, release the mouse button.

Hope this helps!
