Why were Inspector Gadget and Dr. Claw enemies?

Because, 10 years prior to the show, they were lovers. One morning when Inspector Gadget was making blueberry pancakes for breakfast, he left them on the stove for a bit too long and they started on fire. He tried to use his fire extinguisher gadget to put the fire out, but accidentally used the flamethrower. It burnt up Dr. Claw's entire collection of ceramic roosters, and he was obviously quite pissed. A catfight ensued, obscenities were screamed, potatoes were lodged into exhaust pipes, and they have been sworn enemies ever since.
