is there an gadget for my window 7 computer that sends me my emails?

Zack

its like an gadget that i don't have to long on to yahoo to check my mails.
when i log on my computer it sends me an i can see an gadget saying u have an email.
its similar to the iPhone one where it says mail on the bottom of the screen well unless u deleted it but its something similar to that but it would be for my window computer.

Answer
Windows Gadgets are insecure and vulnerable to attack. Microsoft could not be bothered to fix the issue and recommended users disable the feature (or suffere the potential catastrophes at their own risk), so you will not find many Gadgets outside of the first run, even from 3rd (good developers don't program for bad features).

Also, Yahoo (has always before anyway) reserves the use of clients and forwarding for it's premium mail users (your Gadget would basically be a mail client, only sending alerts.... it would still be trying to log on from outside yahoo servers which is not allowed, except for a fee)

For Windows 7, What's difference between Desktop Gadgets and SideShow Gadgets?

Jon F

I've added some gadgets like Pandora and Weather, but I'm not sure if they are Desktop Gadgets or SideShow Gadgets. I was looking at adding some other "gadgets", but I'm not sure the difference between the 2. Any insight? Thanks!

Answer
Windows Desktop Gadgets are a sort of mini-applications which are based on CSS, Script and HTML. These Gadgets are used to display information like CPU, RAM usage, system properties, RSS feeds or to launch and control applications. You can also use gadgets to display a picture slide show or view continuously updated headlines.

A Windows SideShow Gadget is one written by programming against the Windows SideShow Platform API.
