Q.
Answer
You cannot predict the weather without knowing what is the present situation. You cannot do that without gathering data worldwide. It is the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) a division of the United Nations that does that, then redistribute it to all member countries.
From there, some national organizations like the NOAA, feed a computer with a model that predicts the future weather. The Global Forecast System (GFS) is one of them. From that, local weather providers translate it into a layman's language and publish it. No one is doing a better job than the other and no sidebar gadget is better than the other.
When the weather forecast is wrong, it has always an explanation. For example, in a winter high pressure at high latitude situation, the sun's net radiation is calculated from the heat that is expected to radiates back into the sky at night. But if the terrain is hilly or mountainous, cold air from the hills will fall down in the valleys at night, sometimes creating a katabatic wind and, early in the morning, the temperature will be much colder in the valleys than on the tops.
Demanding such a degree of details from a model is just, too much. The keyword here is; resolution. You can get a general forecast for an area but not for valley.
If you are really interested in accurate weather forecast, you should read the TAF forecast for airmen. Those take the weather very seriously. If you live near an airport, find its ICAO code, type it, together with the keywords METAR and TAF and read it. The only thing is that it is only valid for 9 hours (short TAF) or 18 hours (long TAF).
I don't know if there is a sidebar gadget that does that but, as the owner and pilot of a light aircraft, I have on my iPhone an apps that shows me METAR and TAF for any airport in the world.

Answer
The weather gadget takes its info from the net and so that may be where the problem is in that the info is not being sent to you because the site is down or being updated
Just a thought
