where can I get rss feed reader?

I was using the win 7 rss feed gadget that displays on the desktop but I don't like it
because it's limited to msnbc as a news source. Also it is hidden beneath
my browser so I hardly ever see it. A couple of weeks ago it stopped updating.
When searching for fixes, all the solutions seemed to involve making changes
to the registry which is more than I care to do for something that I hardly ever use.
What I would like is an rss feed reader that scrolls across the screen much like the
scroll on cable news channels. Ideally this would be built into the Firefox browser.
I don't want a reader that displays on a separate web page as that means I will
never look at it much like the gadget on my desktop.
When I search for such a reader I keep ending up on pages that talk about
how great a particular reader is but not how it displays, where I can find it,
how to get it to install and how to operate it.
I tried to access Google reader as it's supposed to be a scrolling reader but
again all the Google pages talk about what a wonderful reader it is but
not how I can end up with an actual news scrolling across the screen.
In fact a lot of the Google pages quickly started talking about related
products such as Buzz.
I am not interested in the slightest in sending feeds which
seems to be what most help pages deal with. I want to
_receive_ news.
If anyone knows of a scrolling reader that plugs in to Firefox,
lets me choose news sources and where and how I can
get installed and working I would much appreciate it.
