why does people mostly teenagers are so obsessed with new things especially gadgets? ?

People now a days are so obsessed with new things especially gadgets and other products of technology, most of them are teenagers.. Even though they already have cellphones, laptops, and etc.. They still want to have the latest version of it.. Why do you think they do this? Is it important?

because in our day and age, the kids want everything...the newest and the best..i personally make my daughter buy from goodwill...thats just me...i mean how cool are they to go to school with the lastest gadget...everyone wants to see it or use it...it makes them more popular amoung their peers....

Who or what is the culprit? Is it the mindless MTV shows, like the Hills and Laguna Beach? Or could it be the hip-hop culture that revolves around money, cars, expensive clothing, etc.

the iPhone, for example, is the most coveted gadget by teenagers nowadays. It's sad to see so many young teenagers squander their bank account in order to be cool or accepted.

Personally, I think its about who can be cooler or more popular. What kind of car you drive, what you wear, are you hanging out with the "popular" kids, do you drink, are you a trouble maker... all that adds up to be who you can be and who you are seen as in school. Because something is popular, they want to conform to it. Like when Brittany Spears sister had a kid, all these teenage girls suddenly wanted a kid; when guy or girl wants to conform, they do stupid stuff like smoking, doing drugs, getting trashed, having babies. Teenagers want to copy images they see of celebrities on any show. Its Human nature to want to be accepted, but people take it way too far sometimes.
