Mine is a Quarrow Turtle Multitool fishing pocket tool with an flashlight. Bought it for 10 bucks and so far I am impressed that I could carry half of my fishing equipment in a t-shirt pocket

Red, my gadget is nowhere as useful as the pocket tool you speak of, though I have what I think is a similar unit from Cabelas, and it's quite useful. But I'm gonna focus on the word "neat" in your question. This word does not connote usefulness or trustworthiness or high value. It just means interesting or pleasantly quirky.
My wife and I were sitting on the couch one day last November. She was reading a book and I was reading a fly fishing magazine. I came across an ad for a rather purposeless little gizmo. I am not a connoisseur of gizmos, and in fact I can be rather disdainful of them. I do not need knot-tying gizmos or hook-threading gizmos (I guess I am at an advantage -- I have fingers). Anyhow, I looked at the ad in my magazine and chuckled a little. I don't remember what I said, but it must have been something ambiguous like, "Huh, look at that." My wife looked over and looked at the ad, taking my remark as a sign of interest. A short time later while Christmas shopping for me, she spotted the abovementioned gizmo for sale at the fly shop and bought me one for my stocking.
The gizmo spoken of is as close to useless as you can get. It has never helped me catch a fish (and it never will). It is not worth any of the 10 bucks my wife paid for it. I never asked for it, never really wanted it. But I'm glad I have it and I carry it around, maybe for that reason -- it's not useful, nor mission-critical. It's just kinda... neat.
