Hi, I have slumping shoulders, I noticed, when a friend took a couple of pics of me?

ShakeRattl

at a festive event.. asked him to delete those, and re-take new ones..this time, where I conscientiously made an effort to look like I had decent posture. I'm almost 40 now..is there an apparatus of some sorts I can use to straighten out my posture and shoulders? I think this in part has (when I was employed and looking for fine ladies to ask out) affected my image in a negative way; I think some single women, especially, may perceive my not so good posture as a sign of a lack of confidence..and I keep reading online (and hear from friends who have had pretty busy dating scenes, lol) that women love confidence in a guy - that's a turn on. I would like to get married one day, but I think my posture is not helping me attract the ladies I want to attract (pretty, in shape, smart, fun personality, etc..). I know years ago, when I was a kid, back braces were suggested for youth with this problem. I really never took to that unfortunately - now I wish I did. Is it too late at my adult late 30s age, to see if back braces can help? Or is there another more age-suitable apparatus I can utilize?

Answer
If you were to do a search on the internet to find a way to correct your slouch, you will find any number of gadgets straps, support shirts etc., etc.. Because of your age your bones are all done growing and are not nearly as pliable as they were when you were a kid or a teen. You will have to consult an orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation of your posture and possible means to correct it. The method of treatment will depend on the cause and extent of the condition.

--The first thing to do is get your office chair, keyboard, monitor, mouse ergonomically set up. The lower end of back must be touching the back of chair. Your wrist should have good circulation while typing; use a wrist rest for that. I am talking about wrist etc, because though you have backache directly, back ache can also propagate beginning with neck pain-->shoulder pain-->backache.
-- While working get up after every 15-20 minutes to walk a few meters may be.
-- Install the following from google gadgets.

-- Pay special attention to your posture for a few days. After that you will get used to that good posture
-- Despite your busy schedule, run whenever you get a chance. This will help overcoming stress
-- Finally all kinds of ache are directly related to stress. Learn to manage stress, pain will subside.
