Baby food processors?

Courtney

I'm looking to purchase a food processor to make my own baby food for my daughter, but I DI NOT want to spend a whole lot of money. I don't need all the bells and whistles just need it to purée foods well and for it to last. So obviously there's the baby bullet but what else is there? Please give your recommendations and any feedback you have on products :)

Answer
Don't buy a gadget specifically for baby food, if you must, get a hand held blender thing which you can use for adult foods as well

Also look up Baby Led Weaning - something we did and we never had to puree any food for our baby. I did once buy a jar of baby mush but only because I thought I should and we had never bought one before. Its still in the cupboard looking oh, so nice.

Absolutely essential for baby?

Always Hon

Tell me if you are on a budget, what absolute essentials do you believe that you just couldn't do without when preparing for a baby. It's been a long time since my last one, so I don't know what the new gadgets would be for today.

I guess I have a lot of questions.

1. I want to know what you wouldn't consider doing without because it is so wonderful to have.
2. I want to know what you have to have no matter what.
3. I want to know what you would do to get these things if you lacked the financial resources that you needed.

I'll accept partial answers.

A microwave oven. You can get a basic model..if you do not already own one..for around thirty pounds and can use it to sterilise bottles in as well as for heating up baby food and milk and domestic use..a real money saver!
One of those high chairs that breaks down into a swinging chair with music..they have batteries and swing automatically and I have yet to meet the baby that can stay awake for more than a few minutes in one of them.Check out ebay for a used one in good condition.
In fact, check out ebay anyway..the baby section is huge and used goods sell for a fraction of the price of new ones. You can even enter your postcode and search for items for sale only within a certain distance of your own home so that you can collect..or have collected..anything you buy and avoid the cost of postage. It does not matter if you have a credit card or a pay-pal account, many sellers will accept postal orders or cheques and if you are collecting items then most will take cash on collection..so you can look at a thing before paying.
