Turner

when i watch videos on the internet i see people who have things on their desktop that show how much ram is currently being used and all that. how do i get those?
What i want the most is something that shows me my remaining memory for my computer, so im not always checking, since im running kind of low (60 to 70 GB left)

Answer
Those are called gadgets (win7) and live tiles in windows 8.
So just google 'cpu and ram consumption tiles for windows 8' and have fun :)

Can I get transparency and gadgets in Windows 8/8.1?

Nicole

I have Windows 8.1 and I really want it to make it look very much like Windows 7. I do have a Classic Shell start menu, now I really want the transparency (glass theme) and gadgets. I only get transparency on the taskbar. Is there any third party applications that will unlock these features? Thanks in advance.

Answer
To the best of my knowledge you will not ever get gadgets on Win 8.1 as Microsoft has done away with them. As to whether a third party software will allow you to create them is yet to be seen. What I find all the more depressing is that when I renewed my Norton security it removed the gadget and it cannot be restored. I do know that I installed a third party software called Start Menu 8 that gave me a Start Button, Start Menu and that overall look and feel like Win7 except no gadgets. I don't remember whether or not I get the full transparency on my Win8 computer or not and right now it is disconnected as I use my two Windows 7 desktops primarily, with gadgets!! I do know that all three of my desktops are set up to play all the photos that are in their libraries when I'm not doing something else.

Good Luck, keep your chin up, a smile on your face and may the sun always shine upon your day.
