Q. What are some good gift ideas for a college student? My parents are asking me what I want for about $100 or less. I've got a laptop, cell phone, flash drive, digital camera, TI-83 calculator, good small pinter/scanner/copier, and mp3 player, so anything like those is not what I'm looking for. I'm kind of a nerd, so I really like random gadgets. What's something I could use at college?

Do you have an external hard drive to back up all your stuff? I've recently discovered that I sleep a little better if I have one, even though I haven't had a computer die in 3-4 years. . . or maybe *because* I haven't had a computer die in 3-4 years. :)
Just a thought. I'm also a nerd who likes random gadgets, and got myself a new one for Christmas already.

Suggestions for gift ideas (gifts to bring back from Hong Kong)?

Bruce T
I am an American and all the gift receipients are American ages 21-60. The problem is that all of these ppl have enough clothes (many of them actually said to not buy them clothes) and trinkets (key chains, shot glasses, pens, letteropeners, etc.) and I was looking for some suggestions for presents to bring back from a Hong Kong vacation. I was looking to spend $50 or less per person so laptops and most electronics are out. Thanks.
When I mentioned that I wanted to spend $50 or less, I was referring to American dollars.

I find that gifts for guys and for gals are different. Most guys like some sort of gadget (my opinion). There are a couple outdoor markets in Shum Shui Po where they sell electronic gadgets, from LCD clocks, hand press flashlight, binoculars etc for reasonable prices. (under $50, is it US or HK?) You can find items for under HK$50 also.
For ladies friend, you can try the ladies market in MongKok district. Lots of foreigners go there also, you can get items like jewelry to silk items.
