I need a calendar widget that displays on my terminal (like a shortcut; not in a browser) at system startup, highlights the dates of entered appointments, and that allows me access to a line or two of text if I put my cursor on that date. I used to have a widget like this from Yahoo! but it closed its Widget Center and for complicated reasons I wasn't able to port the old program to my new system. The calendar widgets out there all seem to be optimized for smartphones. Maybe I can use those; I'm not sure. I'm looking for suggestions as to where I should start.
Answer
Unfortunately, Yahoo! discontinued its desktop widgets service on 11 April 2012. If you do not wish to use the browser version of Yahoo! Calendar, you can download the Yahoo! mobile app and connect to Yahoo! Calendar from there. Also, newer computer operating systems, such as Windows 8, offer calendar apps.

I have a yahoo calendar. My homepage is my.yahoo.com. I have all sorts of news feeds and weather and stuff. Can I add my calendar?
Answer
I'm not sure if there's a calendar module or not, but if you can add one you would have to click Add Content on your myYahoo page, then scroll through either the modules offered or the on site search box for calendar apps and see what comes up.
Good luck...
