Will the bumper case protect my ipod 5g?

Okay, so I recently got an ipod 5g and I took really good care of it and I purchased a bumper case off ebay and well it's coming soon and I have a screen protector as well so will it scratch the corners of my ipod also when I do drop it by accident will it crack in any way? Or will the case really protect it?
