I have an internal hard disk on my laptop, which was split to 3 partitions; C, D, E.
One day, I accidentally "damage" the hard disk physically. When I turn it on, it takes a very long time to boot up (20 minutes!). And when I try to access some files, it lags.

Several days passed, and I start to know the problem. Now the boot time is reduced to (only) 5 minutes. I noticed that every time the laptop lags, the disk LED is on, when I look at Drive Meter gadget (win7), the graph went crazy (looks like: _|_|_|_|_), and the read/write speed is measured only in kB!
Now I understand that when I access some files only in C partition, the laptop lags. I conclude that some files were "broken" physically, and unfortunately, system files are part of the "some files". (I tried to uninstall some program that are "broken", and re-install them on another partitions, it works)

How do I repair this condition? Or at least "tell" the Windows 7 not to use those broken sectors?
Please tell me from the "mild" solution to the "extreme" solution.
Thanks before, sorry for long explanation.

Answer
Replace the hard drive and get Recovery Discs from your laptop manufacturer support.
If you can save any files to USB, do that now before the drive freezes up.

Open Computer and right click on the C: Drive and choose Properties
Tools Tab
Error Checking
Check both boxes when the window pops up for Check Disk Options

How do I keep my Win7 gadgets from coming over to my laptop screen when I unplug from my 2nd monitor?

Elliott A

When I disconnect from my external monitor, where my gadgets are placed, they seem to pop up and overlap each other on my laptop monitor. I'd rather not see gadgets when I'm only working off the laptop screen, but I don't want to have to close the gadgets and then reopen them every time I connect and disconnect my second monitor. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Answer
I dont think its poosible.
Sorry you have to manage it
