I have Windows 7 and so does a friend of mine and he just bought it and on
his desk top on the right side of his screen in big letters it shows the Temperature
and the time, i asked him how I can apply that to mine and he said he did not know
because that it the way it was set up so is there anyone that knows how to do that?
Do I go to settings or what?

Answer
If you have Windows 7 on your computer, you can use the widget sidebar. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Sidebar-and-gadgets-overview

If you have Windows XP or any other OS, you can use The Weather Channels widget, Weatherbug program, or any Apps for OS X.

What is the purpose of pressing Win+Space in Windows 7? Just to see the desktop picture?

I can't seem to click on any desktop icons when all the windows turn invisible, so what's the purpose of this feature?

Thanks.

Answer
Not much purpose that I'm aware of.

It would allow you to rapidly "hide" all screens you're working on temporarily though.

In some scenarios people could have things on the desktop they want to glance at quickly then go back to where they were. You could see if a file you just saved there actually went there, for example.

Your gadgets are supposed to be visible when you use Windows-Space. There are any number of things people could set up that way that they could quickly flash to -- system information, calendars/schedulers, weather info, traffic, etc.

Ultimately it's pretty close to Windows-D which actually takes you to the desktop, but will take you back faster to where you were if you don't actually need to do anything on the desktop other than look at it.
